Every artist starts by hearing a demo of a recording of tracks people want recorded. Elvis was know different; he would travel with such demos picking any that he preferred. Not many made it to the final cut but never the less these recordings are part of the Elvis’s recording story. with out these tracks we would not get to hear some songs that elvis never liked or not suitable to his taste. The great think is we also get to hear how the song was changed by Elvis, faster or slower. ballad to a rocker. Elvis had the ear to know what he wanted a song to sound like and nobody would change is mind. Volume consists of movie tracks from 1961/63 like, Girls! Girls! Girls!, It Happened at the World's Fair and Fun in Acapulco. P.J was a friend and very nearly family to Elvis so he had an understanding of what elvis would look for in a song. And all that knowledge is heard in these songs.

Multi-talented Randy Starr wrote many of Elvis’s songs of which 14 appear on this album. and as you will see not all made it onto vinyl with Elvis. But once again demonstrates the verity he had to record many a great song. Two great track which would have been nice to Elvis sing “Three Wishes” and “Bring on the Dancing Girls” both would have again gave a great ballad and a film track rocker. But not everyone of his compositions failed to meet Elvis’s ears. “The Yellow Rose Of Texas” from the Movie Viva Las Vegas soundtrack, “I’ll Take Love” from Easy Come Easy Go. On volume 1 also brings us the demos from other great artist and their renditions of tracks that were not used. Malcolm Dobbs, Kenny Karan, Jerry Keller and not forgetting Mimi Roman.
