Ding dong Donnelly’s first new year release for the record writing cat, he is back with another single with his four piece band , the brit rockers are busy at their home studio, writing and a rockin, tearing the dance floor up again with their own traditional rock n roll doo wop and country billy sound keeping us happy with new tunes. the four piece consists of
Kerr Donnelly on the lead vocal and strumming guitar
Marty Holland on slinging lead guitar and backing vocals
Andy Purcell drumming away with backing vocals
Lee Beddow on the slapping bass and backing vocals,
these cats always giving a great sound ...lets check it out...
1 - Its pitiful – (Donnelley)
so here we got a nice calm starter, harmonizing instruments, small opening into the sombre sound of his vocals. continuous guitar plays a later revival, doowop type of sound. calm country rockin steady drum brushes with double beat, nice ending.
2 - This Cats Out Tonight – (Donnelley/Beddow)
Here we go kats a fast up beat old school rockabilly jiver, straight into a twangy guitar pounding rhythmic and rockin drums along with that bouncing bass. classic guitar mini breaks. slight echoed vocals, little drum roll fills, band pauses for the solo vocal lines, into an ensemble of vocals for the chorus with the riding cymbal, the outro is full of guitars accompanied by drums and a fading drawn out note.
Summary
This is a treat ,a real double header single for the new year. some real good traditional sound, hints and essence of revival British doo wop and fantastic traditional U.S and UK rockabilly, I can see most places wanting a copy of this.
