Halloween is well and truly over and its time to step into that wonderful time of Christmas. And the Bear Family have gone that extra mile with this superb compilation of the great blues and grooves of the season’s classics. 28 Tracks that will make your Christmas selection stray away from the more popularized everyday favourites. Kicking of with a 1955 smash for the Jackson Trio and “Jingle Bell Hop”. A track written by the one and only William York who went under the writing name of Wm York. This blues instrumental should be played loud whilst putting them decorations up. This is a really well put together album/cd. Some thought has really gone into it, using a wide variety of artist from all genres of Music. Included on this album are artist I never knew recorded such tracks. Singers like Clyde McPhatter’s version of “White Christmas”, John Greers “we want to see Santa do the mambo” and Cecil Gant’s “Hello Santa Claus”

There is plenty of the good old singalong tracks whilst having a groovy dance around the Christmas tree. BB Kings “Christmas Celebrations” Bill Doggetts instrumental of “winter Wonderland” will have you singing your heart out whilst sipping a sherry. But then you get the blues version of “white Christmas” by the one and only Big Maybelle and Jesse Belvins “I want you with me Xmas”.

This is truly a masterpiece of music compiled to hit all those Christmas emotions from dancing around, to fire light cuddles. Groovy and Bluesy is the perfect album for that perfect Christmas.
