The Velvet Candles are a vocal group from Barcelona, Spain Genre: Doo Wop, Rhythm & Blues, Rock n' Roll. 15 years of career deserve this impressive album that includes, without a doubt, their best songs from their beginnings to their consolidation as the best Doo Wop band of the moment.

Most of the tracks make their debut on vinyl, there are three previously unreleased songs and a photograph signed by all the members of the band, only for the first 500 units.

Members of the Band:

Augier Burr - Lead vocals & chorus

Eddie Peregrin - Lead vocals & chorus

Mamen Salvador - Leads & chorus

Juan Ibañez - Vocal Bass & chorus

Miguel A. G. Garro - High Tenor

Album Review: A mellow tune ”The Story Of Our Love”  starts side A off with a powerful voice running through following this Mamen gives us a Spanish trilogy called “Dimelo Tu” a nice jovial affair with catchy lyrics. Track three lives up to its title “Robot Stomp”  with a rocking beat, while “Take A Chance On Love” is a more of rama lama ding dong number. Full on and riveting with a neat guitar break is “That’s How I Feel”, moving on The Velvets give us a doo wop version  of Frankie Laines “I Believe” which starts of rather gospel before a lovely harmonising sound comes in. Side  A ends with a lively tune “Hello Stranger” with some saxophone breaks and a deep hollow voice portraying the lyrics.

Side B kicks of with “Cry Cry Cry” this is cleverly arranged by The Velvets with lead, tenor & bass contributing. Mamen leads on the second track with the boys joining in on the chorus with a tune that will keep going round and round in your head, “My Hearts Desire” is up next which is a perfect jiver with a driving beat, as is “Out Of My Mind” another upbeat track. “I’m In Love” pushes the boundaries for pace with a characteristic sound from the harmonising crew, the next track “Stormy weather’ needs no introduction covered by so many artists and the adaption by The Velvets is no exception from Blues to Doo Wop. Side B ends with a ripper “Your Eyes” full of energy and sparkle with the range of vocals at top level.

So, let’s Summarise: The Velvet Candles have produced an album here very much based on the sound of the 1950’s Doo Wop era with their own thoughts and adaptions mixed in well mastered and produced , give it a whirl if you lucky enough to get the limited-edition LP’s if not sound it out digitally.

Band Bio( from El Toro Records)

The Velvet Candles... At Last!!! seven years after our successful second album Today, we finally offer you a brand-new long player, sixteen tracks showcasing the sound of the group today.

These years have been amazing, we have been travelling a lot, doing shows all over Europe and making friends in almost every country you can think of. We even were part of a number one album! We shared the stage with some of our idols from the 50's like Norman Fox, Larry Chance, Gaynel Hodge or our great friend Tommy Hunt and so and so...

During these years of shows we worked on a repertoire of songs that we felt we had to put on record sooner or later... and that moment is now... that's what you are holding in your hands, a collection of sixteen songs that represent the sound of the group today. Sixteen songs that are favourites of The Velvet Candles... And hopefully will be your favourites too!!

We hope next years will be the same, we really do. Because most of all, the best of it all has been meeting people as fantastic as you!! We love you!!

The Velvet Candles.
